Sterling & Stone Closes Its Education Arm

After seven years serving the indie publishing and writing community, Sterling & Stone is closing its education arm to focus on full-time fiction.

While we’ve been generating best-sellers since our breakout hit Yesterday’s Gone in 2011, the author community knows us best for the Self-Publishing Podcast and the best-selling guide to indie publishing: Write. Publish. Repeat.

We’ve loved teaching others and getting to know so much of the community, but after devoting a disproportionate amount of our time, money, and available resources into education, we haven’t had enough left over to feed our core business. Sterling & Stone was founded on story, and it is now time to make a full return to what our studio cares about most.

We’re excited to have the energy and resources to tell stories in both traditional and original ways. While much of our focus will continue to be on books, we will spend the next two years stretching into new story arenas, starting with film, television, and audio projects.

“We’re incredibly proud of the impact we’ve been able to have on the author community and the people we’ve met along the way. We’ve hosted packed events, sold out webinars, and mentored in high-end masterminds. Our first in-person event had attendees from seven different countries.

We feel we’ve done what we set out to do in education, and it’s time to focus on developing our studio of storytellers, and all the various forms our tales will be taking. If we ever return to non-fiction it will be with a focus on craft and storytelling, not marketing. We will be forever grateful to the community that embraced us and helped make Sterling & Stone a studio story lovers care about.”

Sean Platt, CEO and Founder of Sterling & Stone.

While there will be no further events, we have preserved our articles and nonfiction books for the community, all of which can be found on SmarterArtist.net.

We’re not going anywhere, and will continue to keep you updated on our journey. Expect fresh podcasts in the future with the same flavor you’ve gotten to know and love from us.
