Sterling & Stone Bestseller Fat Vampire TV Adaptation Sold to NBC/Universal

Sterling & Stone couldn’t be happier to announce that the TV adaptation of our Best-selling novel Fat Vampire by Johnny B Truant has been sold to NBC/Universal for development at SYFY.

Fat Vampire is Johnny’s first adapted novel. The core series is six books long and boasts a side series called The Vampire Maurice. Johnny is the author of approximately 100 additional books under various pen names including the bestselling Invasion, Dead City, and the upcoming Pattern Black.

Heading TV development for the series are the American-Canadian filmmaking duo Harley Peyton and Jeremiah Chechik, through Chechik’s production company Modern Story. Peyton was writer and producer on Twin Peaks as well as EP for the upcoming Chucky, which was ordered straight-to-series by SYFY in 2020. Peyton’s other credits include Project Blue Book, Channel Zero, Dominion, and NBC/Universal’s Dracula. He also has a Story By credit on the Sony/Screen Gems comedy Friends With Benefits, which grossed almost $150M. His first feature adaptation was Bret Easton Ellis’s Less Than Zero, starring Robert Downey Jr.

Chechik’s directing credits include National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation ($72.5M gross, the highest of the Vacation franchise) and the Johnny Depp feature Benny & Joon. He has TV directing credits on episodes of Burn Notice, Chuck, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, and more.

Fat Vampire will be Sterling & Stone’s first IP to appear on-screen, although we’ve previously sold several options and are in early story development for a film script to be produced in cooperation with a credited director friend of the studio’s.

More details including production time, casting, and launch dates will follow. Please stay tuned to see what’s coming next …
